Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 28-year-old Black male that occurred in an alley.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Devonte Smith.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Effects of Fentanyl and Methamphetmine

RIP DEVONTE SMITH (December 31, 1994 – May 28, 2023)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Sunday at 6:55 p.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on July 30, presumably after the results of tox screening came back positive for the drugs. This was an accidental overdose.
