(L.A.) Rommel Mendoza, 50, Died on a Street

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 50-year-old Hispanic male that occurred on a street.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Rommel Mendoza.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Gunshot Wound of the Chest

RIP ROMMEL MENDOZA (May 22, 1970 – May 27, 2020)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Wednesday at 12:28 p.m.

The decedent was killed by LAPD in North Hollywood after facing off with officers while wielding a sword and asking to be shot.

Officers on the scene complained to investigators that the helicopter was flying “very low” and was “very loud,” making their jobs difficult.
