(L.A.) Juan Chavez, 37, Died on a Sidewalk

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 37-year-old male that occurred on a sidewalk.
The coroner’s office has identified the man as Juan Chavez and listed his race as Caucasian.
Manner of Death: Homicide
Cause of Death: Multiple Gunshot Wounds

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Tuesday at 10:34 p.m.
The decedent was a Marine veteran working as a security guard. He was shot dead by LAPD outside a church in the 1800 block of West Pico Boulevard in Pico-Union, just southeast of Koreatown. His assailants have been identified as gang-enforcement officers Fernando Flores and Alfredo Aguayo who were not in uniform during the encounter.
Juan Chavez was in the area for the funeral of Jesus Vargas, who had been murdered on July 1.
