(L.A.) Jose Gutierrez, 66, Died in a Hospital

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 66-year-old Latino male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Jose Gutierrez.

Bald. Height: 5 ft 10 in. Weight: 190 lbs

Manner of Death: Natural

Cause of Death A: Sepsis

Cause of Death B: Pneumonia

Other Significant Conditions: Hypertensive Cardiovascular Disease and Cirrhosis of Uncertain Etiology

This was LASD’s fortieth in-custody death in 2023. The decedent was arrested on June 21 by LASD’s Carson Division and processed at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility at 450 Bauchet Street. He ended up dying while in the intensive care unit of L.A. General Medical Center.
