Los Angeles County is reporting the death of an 81-year-old Latino male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Joseph Leyva.

Manner of Death: Natural

Cause of Death A: Cardiopulmonary Arrest

Cause of Death B: Diabetic Ketoacidosis

Cause of Death C: Diabetes Mellitus Type II

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Tuesday at 12:01 p.m.

This is possibly the oldest case of diabetic ketoacidosis we have seen among the area’s 150,000 public records.
