Pacoima Wash is a 33-mile-long tributary of the Tujunga Wash, which itself flows into the Los Angeles River. It is located in the San Fernando Valley of L.A. County.

It is called a “wash” because it is a dry creek bed or stream that only carries water during and after rainstorms or snowmelt. In arid regions like Southern California, many streams are ephemeral and only flow intermittently, so they are referred to as washes rather than permanent rivers or creeks.
