Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 14-year-old Latino male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office has identified the young teen as Adrian Gavino.

Manner of Death: Natural

Cause of Death A: Waterhouse-Friderichsen Syndrome

Cause of Death B: Streptococcus pyogenes Infection

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday at 5:47 a.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on December 17.

Waterhouse-Friderichsen syndrome is a rare and life-threatening condition characterized by adrenal gland failure due to bleeding into the adrenal glands, typically caused by severe bacterial infection.
