(L.A.) Joseph Vargas, 51, Died at a Residence

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 51-year-old Latino male that occurred at his residence.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Joseph Vargas.

Cause of Death: Complications of Phenytoin Toxicity

Other Significant Conditions: Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva, Seizures, Aspiration Pneumonia, Old Traumatic Brain Injury

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday at 10:10 a.m.

The Department of Medical Examiner publicly disclosed the CoD ruling on January 5.

Phenytoin, sold under the brand name Dilantin among others, is an anti-seizure medication.
