(L.A.) Princeton Jones, 9, Died in Compton

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a nine-year-old Black male that occurred at a private residence in Compton.

The coroner’s office has identified the child as Princeton Jones.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Gunshot Wound of Head

RIP PRINCETON NICHOLAS JONES (April 4, 2015 – November 30, 2024)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday at 7:47 p.m.

According to the decedent’s family members, the mildly autistic boy was playing outside his grandfather’s home at the intersection of Haskins Avenue and Alondra Boulevard when he was shot.

Local government issued the following statement:

“The City of Compton mourns the loss of the 9-year-old boy who was killed on Saturday evening in West Rancho Dominguez. Our hearts go out to the family as they cope with this tremendous loss.”

Police announced on December 2 that the boy’s father Nicholas Jones, 32, was arrested in connection with the shooting. On December 3, he pleaded not guilty. He reamins in jail with bail set at $2 million.
