(L.A.) Deciderio Leonides Chavez, 41, Died in Jail

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 41-year-old Latino male that occurred in jail.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Deciderio Leonides Chavez.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death A: Asphyxiation

Cause of Death B: Ligature Strangulation

RIP DECIDERIO LEONIDES CHAVEZ (February 11, 1983 – December 4, 2024)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.

Incident location appears to have been a cell at the Men’s Central Jail downtown.

The government investigator did indeed spell the decedent’s forename as Deciderio and not Desiderio.
