(L.A.) Nicholas Muñoz, 37, Ended His Life

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 37-year-old Latino male that occurred at his residence.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Nicholas Muñoz.

Manner of Death: Suicide

Cause of Death: Gunshot Wound Under the Chin

RIP NICHOLAS MUÑOZ (June 22, 1987 – December 18, 2024)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Wednesday at 3:49 a.m.

The decedent killed himself after an hourslong standoff with Sheriff’s Department deputies in Carson.

Deputies from the LASD’s Special Enforcement Bureau had responded at around 11:00 p.m. Tuesday to the 21800 block of Water Street, south of Carson Street, to assist deputies from the Lakewood Sheriff’s Station with the barricaded suspect.

SEB personnel assumed tactical command, and a crisis negotiation team attempted to make contact with the suspect in an effort to bring the situation to a conclusion.
