LOCATION: 110 Freeway JNO Century Blvd Northbound On-ramp
AREA/CITY: South LA / Broadway Manchester / Vermont Vista

DETAILS:

According to California Highway Patrol, a dark-colored sedan was traveling the wrong way on the Northbound lanes of the 110 freeway. The dark-colored sedan, possibly a Honda Civic, collided with a red van.

CHP believes that the driver of the dark sedan got out of his vehicle and was struck by another sedan sending him onto other lanes where he was struck again this time by a METRO bus.

The METRO bus dragged the driver under the front of the bus about 200 feet.

LAFD responded and declared the driver of the dark Honda Civic deceased.

LAFD heavy rescue was called in to lift the bus in order to get the body out from under the bus.

No other injuries were reported.

A total of about 4 vehicles were involved.

ADDED INFO:

A person was killed in a two-vehicle crash this morning on the Harbor (110) Freeway in South Los Angeles.

The collision occurred at around 5 a.m. Sunday on the northbound freeway, just south of Manchester Avenue, and involved a black sedan and a gray cargo van in the express lanes.

Following the initial crash, an out-of-service Metro bus struck the victim.

Metro statement: “At about 5:10 this morning, an out-of-service Metro bus Line 210 heading northbound on the 110 Freeway north of Century Boulevard, struck a body that had been ejected from an earlier, non-Metro vehicle accident.”
