Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 13-year-old Black female that occurred at an unmarked crosswalk.
The coroner’s office has identified the girl as Saya Barnes.
Manner of Death: Accident
Cause of Death: Blunt Head Trauma
RIP SAYA BARNES (December 7, 2011 – February 3, 2025)
Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday at 3:20 p.m.

that was my best friend and after hearing about her passing away I cried for hours she was very sweet and caring and she would never hurt a soul being around her made me happy because and can be myself around her and she was never a judging person she cared and loved everyone. Although i didn’t know her much, i saw her everyday while walking home and i talked her to her maybe twice and she was such a nice person and because of what happened walking home isn’t going to be the same because of the sadness i feel today
