Lamotrigine oral tablet is a prescription medication used to treat seizures in people with epilepsy and bipolar disorder. It’s available in generic forms and as the brand-name drugs Lamictal, Lamictal XR, Lamictal CD, and Lamictal ODT.

In February 2020, drug manufacturer Taro Pharmaceuticals voluntarily recalled one lot of Lamotrigine tablets. The FDA classified it as a Class I Recall.

Class I is the most urgent recall. It is a situation in which there is a reasonable probability that the use of, or exposure to, a violative product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death.

A single lot of Lamotrigine 100 mg tablets was found to have been cross-contaminated with a small amount of another drug substance (Enalapril Maleate).
