(L.A.) Arturo Cortez, 31, Died in a Hospital

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 31-year-old Hispanic male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Arturo Cortez.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Mixed Drug Toxicity (Cocaine, Ethanol, Despropionyl Fentanyl, 2-Furanylfentanyl)

Other Significant Conditions: Coronary Artery Atherosclerosis, Hepatic Steatosis

Furanylfentanyl (Fu-F) is an opioid analgesic that is an analog of fentanyl and has been sold as a designer drug. It has an ED50 value of 0.02 mg/kg in mice. This makes it approximately one fifth as potent as fentanyl.
