Boxer Patrick Day dies aged 27 from head injuries sustained in fight
The boxer Patrick Day passed away on Wednesday, four days after suffering a traumatic brain injury in a professional fight against 2016 Olympian Charles Conwell in Chicago.
Day was knocked out by Conwell in the 10th round of their USBA super welterweight title fight on Saturday night.
His promoter Lou DiBella issued the following statement:

Day was a native of Long Island. His trainer was Joe Higgins, a hero of the 9/11 terror attacks.
