Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 71-year-old Latino male that occurred at a residence.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Herman Vargas.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Fentanyl, Methamphetamine and Phencyclidine Toxicity

RIP HERMAN VARGAS (May 9, 1952 – June 12, 2023)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday at 6:38 p.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on July 30, presumably after the results of tox screening came back positive for the drugs. This was an accidental overdose.
