(L.A.) Jonathan Vasquez Rivas, 37, Died on a Sidewalk

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 37-year-old Latino male that occurred on a sidewalk.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Jonathan Vasquez Rivas.

Manner and cause of death have not yet been officially announced by the medical examiner; the information will be added to this page as soon as it becomes available.

RIP JONATHAN VASQUEZ RIVAS (January 8, 1988 – January 31, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday at 1:15 a.m.

The shooting happened in the 3400 block of South Ninth Avenue, near Jefferson Boulevard, in Leimert Park.

LAPD has already said the victim had a gunshot wound to the head, though the Department of Medical Examiner has not yet certified the injury.

The video was quoting a spokesman of the LAPD who had initially said the victim was 20 years old.
