RIP JOSHUA SALCIDO (July 6, 2000 – June 7, 2024)
Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday at 4:28 p.m.
The Department of Medical Examiner publicly disclosed the CoD ruling on October 5, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab.
Hyperthermia often results from exposure to excessive natural heat, such as during heatwaves.
The diagnosis of hyperthermia as the cause of death is typically based on a history of exposure to high ambient temperatures. This involves considering the circumstances surrounding the death and investigative reports on environmental temperatures.
Hyperthermia does not have specific postmortem findings, so the diagnosis may rely on supportive findings and the exclusion of other potential causes of death. This can include reviewing the environmental conditions at the time of death.
When the manner of death is classified as an accident, it indicates that the death was unintentional and resulted from unforeseen circumstances. In the context of hyperthermia, this would mean that the individual’s exposure to excessive heat was not intentional, such as being trapped in a hot environment or failing to take adequate precautions during a heatwave.
