An intertrochanteric femur fracture is a break in the upper part of the thigh bone, just below the hip joint, and it often happens when older people fall. This type of fracture is common in older adults because their bones can become weak and fragile, making them more likely to break. Doctors usually diagnose it with an X-ray and treat it with surgery to fix the bone using metal screws or plates.
