Renal abscesses are localized pockets of pus in the kidney, typically arising from infections.
Most renal abscesses develop as complications of urinary tract infections, where bacteria ascend from the bladder to the kidneys. Another possible cause is kidney stones, which can obstruct urine flow, creating an environment conducive to infection. Physical injury to the kidney or recent surgical procedures can also lead to abscess formation.
