Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 28-year-old Hispanic male that occurred at a residence.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Miguel Pozo.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death A: Pulmonary Thromboembolism

Cause of Death B: Deep Vein Thrombosis Of Left Lower Extremity

Other Significant Conditions: Obesity, Methamphetamine Effects

Although methamphetamine is reported to be associated with small and medium-sized vessel thrombosis, to the best of our knowledge, this is the first case of methamphetamine cardiotoxicity presenting with acute pulmonary embolism and multiple, bi-ventricular thrombi.
