Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 36-year-old Latin American female that occurred in a park.
The coroner’s office has identified the woman as Vanessa Garcia.
Manner of Death: Suicide
Cause of Death A: Asphyxia
Cause of Death B: Hanging
Other Significant Condition: Thermal Burns

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Tuesday at 12:43 p.m.
Incident address is recorded as 4800 Crystal Springs Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90027.
This death has been the subject of much speculation. A corpse was found in Griffith Park — hanging from a tree, and burning. Most presumed it was a man who had been the victim of a gruesome murder.
After the coroner / medical examiner came out with the ruling that the death was in fact a suicide, the son of the decedent claimed that his mother was likely bumped off by an “Armenian guy.”
As far as the authorities are concerned, this case is closed.
The government investigator assigned to this case was Kristina McGuire, the pathologist Dr. Pedro Ortiz-Colom.
