(L.A.) William De Rothschild, 87, Died at a Residence

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of an 87-year-old White/Caucasian male that occurred at his residence in Laurel Canyon.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as William De Rothschild.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Hypertensive Cardiovascular Disease

Other Significant Condition: Inhalation of Products of Combustion

RIP WILLIAM DE ROTHSCHILD (February 15, 1937 – November 27, 2024)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Wednesday at 5:18 p.m.

The decedent was known in Hollywood Hills as Will Rothschild and was presumed to be a billionaire and a member of the famed Rothschild family.

After his death, it was discovered that he was born with the name William Kauffman and had legally changed his surname in 1985.

He did not tell anyone he was a member of the Rothschild family, but neighbors had speculated that he was.

If we assume that D.B. Cooper was in his mid-30s during the 1971 hijacking, Cooper would be around 87 years old now.
